Inside our Ford Transit there's a proper barber chair, a sink, dryers, panelled walls, colour-changing lights and a TV across from the chair. Same tools, same hot towels as any shop in town.
There's a wheelchair lift at the back, so nobody has to manage steps to get a haircut.

Built in a backyard, launched on the waterfront
Mohammad grew up in Damascus and came to Halifax in 2019. He cut hair in shops around the city until the pandemic shut the one he worked in, and he kept noticing how many people had a hard time getting to a barber at all.
So he spent two years planning a barbershop that could go to them. He bought a Ford Transit in Montreal, built it out in his backyard with a friend, and in November 2022 we opened on the Halifax waterfront.
When we launched, we set aside time every week for free haircuts for people at Shelter Nova Scotia. As Mohammad puts it, “Halifax has been good to me.”
